Obituary: Maryelva Twete

Maryelva (Lollie) Haas Twete passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at the Nelson County Health System Care Center in McVille, N.D. where she had been a resident for the past four months.

Maryelva was born on August 24, 1925 the daughter of Alma Ann (Jones) and George Raymond Haas. She grew up in the Hamar area and graduated from Hamar Public School. She worked for the Boeing Company in California and Washington during World War II. Lollie married Kearn D. Twete on September 21, 1947. They bought the Roar Anderson farm in 1947 in rural Tolna where they raised grain and livestock. The couple worked side by side working the farm and raising four children.

Lollie was a member in the Beauty Builders Garden Club, Sigdal Quilting Club and a lifelong member of Sigdal Lutheran Church and WELCA. She was known to her children and grandchildren for her homemade oatmeal buns, donuts, krumkaka, scalloped potatoes, sewing and patching jeans. She was always there with a helping hand and an abundance of LOVE for everyone.

Lollie is survived by her four children, Darlene (Luke) Dusek of Mesa Ariz.; Timothy (Kathy) of Devils Lake, N.D.; Kim Marie Hall of Ft Meyers Beach, Fla.; Nicki (Mark) Willows of Binford, N.D.; twelve grandchildren, Jodi, Shawn, Kristopher, Shannon, Brian, Jeremy, Nicholas, Erika, Kyle, Kacie, Marcy, Levi and 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters Ardeth of Bismarck and Dedre of Devils Lake; and many nieces and nephews.

Lollie was preceded in death by her husband Kearn, her parents, sisters Bessie, Jessamine, Beryl and brother Gerald.

Lollie was the keystone of our family and will be missed by all.

A celebration of life was held Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Sigdal Lutheran Church, rural Tolna, N.D. with visitation one hour prior to services in the church. Interment will be in Sigdal Church Cemetery.
