On Sept. 29-30 Dakota Prairie Regional Center for the Arts in New Rockford will once again play host to the Manhattan Short Film Festival. This unique, global film festival is the final competition stage for nine short films, which have already been selected as finalists from nearly 600 entries.
The films are being shown for one week only to audiences across six continents. The New Rockford Opera House is one of only two North Dakota locations participating. Over 100,000 filmgoers are expected to gather for screenings across the globe, each casting their vote for best film and best actor/actress. These votes, including those gathered in New Rockford, will be tallied at the conclusion of the festival and will directly determine the festival award winners.
Entrance admission is $10 at the door. Concessions will include coffee and smoothies from the Latte Lobby, and beer and wine from Jack’s Tavern. A free will taco bar will also be provided with proceeds going towards arts programming in New Rockford.
Of special note to patrons is that there will NOT be a Friday screening this year. Saturday’s screening will commence at 7 p.m. (with concessions and taco bar open at 6 p.m.). Sunday’s showtime is 2:30 p.m. (with concessions and taco bar open at 1:30 p.m.
