Obituary: Bryce Farnsworth

Bryce LeRoy Farnsworth, 73, of Fargo, ND, passed away Sept. 13, 2018, at his home. The funeral was held Sept. 20, 2018 in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in McHenry, N.D. Burial was in Bethlehem Cemetery, McHenry. Rev Sherri Frederickson officiated and special music was provided by Annola Black. Casket bearers Brian Farnsworth, Clay Farnsworth, Matthew Farnsworth, Evan Farnsworth, Briana Farnsworth and Ashley Farnsworth.

Bryce Farnsworth was born January 21, 1945, in New Rockford, ND, to Bruce and Avenelle (Ellingson) Farnsworth. He attended school in McHenry and graduated from McHenry High School in 1962. Farnsworth continued his education at NDSU, attaining his master’s degree in horticulture.

He had many successes in his field of work and was well known in Japan for his innovative work. He was able to crossbreed a variety of potatoes in order for them to sustain growth in the Japanese soil and climate. He had been living in Fargo for the last 45 years all the while working at NDSU.

Farnsworth is survived by his two brothers Edmund Farnsworth, McHenry, N. D. and Douglas Farnsworth, Elk Mound, Wis.; many nephews and nieces; and close friend Donald Martinson.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one infant brother; one sister, Barbara Farnsworth and his sister-in-law, Karen Farnsworth.
