Discover Fall Fun in North Dakota

Autumn in North Dakota is a festive time of year. Nature is in her colorful glory and North Dakota communities are vibrant and active with fun, fall-centered activity. In a state where 90 percent of the land surface is devoted to agriculture, it should come as no surprise that there is a healthy supply of pumpkin patches ad corn mazes to enjoy. Gather family and friends and head outside for your fill of pumpkin picking, corn mazing and spiced cider drinking.

Papa’s Pumpkin Patch, Bismarck— Recently named by the Travel Channel as one of the top ten pumpkin patches in the United States, Papa’s Pumpkin Patch is a treat for visitors of all ages and includes pumpkin sales, train rides, a corn maze, pony rides, concessions and more. In addition to pumpkin patches and corn mazes, autumn is the time for outdoor festivals. For a more urban experience, consider AppleFest in Bismarck or the Fall Festival at Fargo’s Rheault Farm.

With German roots running deep in this state North Dakotans know a thing or two about how to throw an Oktoberfest. Don some lederhosen and find a local festival to enjoy some craft brews, bratwursts and German melodies. Oktoberfest isn’t the only cultural autumn celebration occurring in North Dakota this fall. Minot’s Norsk Høstfest is North America’s largest Scandinavian festival and has been providing “pure Scandimonium” and entertainment every September for more than 40 years.
