The New Rockford-Sheyenne girls volleyball team is on a roll. They played good overall matches and swept their opponents in two regional match-ups this past week. First, they trekked to St. John on Sept. 27, where the Rockets defeated the Woodchucks by a final score of 3-0. The set scores were 25-17, 25-16, and 25-19. With that win, the Rockets improved to 3-0 in Region 4 and 10-5 overall. On Tuesday, Oct. 2, the girls went to Lakota for their first of two Homecoming Week contests. They again put out a solid effort and swept their opponents 3-0. Final set scores were 25-16, 25-19 and 25 -12. The junior varsity squad also swept St. John with set scores of 25-23 and 25-16. The girls could not be outdone even by a crop of tough boys. On Monday, Oct. 1, the Rocket volleyball team took on the NR-S football team in a Homecoming Week scrimmage. The girls prevailed in the end in a contest that had both teams digging and hitting in dramatic fashion.
