While the volleyball team was at home, hosting Dunseith for their Homecoming contest, the fifth and sixth grade youth football team braved the cold and wind to face Harvey in their league championship. They put out a solid effort in this high intensity contest. Highlights included an interception by Brody Weisenburger. In the end, the Rockets achieved something that had never been done before in the program- they finished a season undefeated. The Rockets prevailed with a score of 19-12 and claimed their first youth football championship. The team's season record was 9-0.
The third and fourth graders also got a chance at the championship, but fell to Griggs County in the semifinal round of the playoffs on Tuesday, Oct. 2. Quarterback Skye Kramlich left the game in the fourth quarter after he took quite a hit from a Griggs County defender. The final score of that game, which was quite physical, was 31-6.
Team members are Kramlich, Tyler Riggle, Ayden Gable, Kolton O'Connor, Sawyer Huso, Jax Demester, Thaddison Wobbema, Alex Knatterud, Konnor Brydon, Beau Baumbach, Chaztin Wobbema, Ezaiah Urtaddo, Charles Jorgenson, Aaden Benson, Dustin Nystrom, Jaydee Duda, Layton Jacobson, Lance Ziegler, Eli Alfstad and Malaki Kukowski.
