A single vehicle train crash on Tuesday night left a local man dead.
Kurt Anderson, 49, of Sheyenne, was killed Tuesday night, Oct. 16 at 11:13 p.m. He was struck by an eastbound BNSF train at the crossing on 61st Ave NE, a paved road west of New Rockford in Munster Township near the former Munster Schoolhouse. Anderson’s vehicle, a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, was struck on the driver side. Anderson died at the scene.
Neighbors say authorities remained on scene throughout the night.
No BNSF staff were injured in the crash, which remains under investigation by the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office and the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
