Thomas J. Boyle passed away on Oct. 10, 2018 at home, under hospice care with his loving wife by his side. Tom was born on Oct. 30, 1947 in New Rockford, N.D. to Emmett and Agnes Boyle. He was the third of six children. He graduated from St. James Academy in New Rockford, in 1965. Tom was always proud to be an alumni of St. James. After high school, he followed his best friend "now wife of 48 years," Nancy Dunham Boyle to Minot, N.D. to attend Minot State University. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education from MSU in May of 1969. Tom and Nancy began their life together on Dec. 27, 1969 when they were united in marriage at St. John's Catholic Church in New Rockford. Tom and Nancy spent their first four years in Steele, N.D. where Tom began teaching Business Education classes. Their son, Scott, was born in 1971 while they were living in Steele. In 1973, they found their way back to New Rockford where Tom accepted a contract to become the business manager of the school district. Their daughter, Sarah, was born in 1975 while they were residing in New Rockford. In 1977, Tom's career path changed significantly. He accepted a position with Metropolitan Federal Bank in Fargo. He completed 16 years with Metropolitan where he was a Senior Vice President/Regional Manager. The remainder of his banking career consisted of seven years in Brainerd, Minn. with Bremer Bank as their Retail Manager, and five years as a Private Banker with US Bank in Fargo.
Tom has been a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. His unconditional love for his family was just one of his many qualities. After being diagnosed with a terminal illness and fighting a long hard battle, Tom never lost sight of his true love for life. His grandchildren brought him more joy and happiness than anyone can imagine. Tom was a great example with his ongoing sense of humor and ability to always remain upbeat no matter what the circumstance.
Tom is survived by his wife Nancy; his son, Scott and his daughter, Sarah. Two grandchildren, granddaughter Arianna and grandson Peyton. Three sisters, Patty (George) Poff, Becky (Bruce) Byrum, Jean (Dan) Laber and one brother Marty (Patty) Boyle. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Larry and brother-in-law George Poff.
There will be visitation from 6-7 p.m. with a prayer service following at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018 at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center, Fargo. The memorial mass will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018 at Nativity Catholic Church, Fargo with a visitation one hour prior.
