The Garrison Diversion Conservancy District’s Recreation Committee recently awarded matching grants to 10 recreation projects totaling $145,942. Projects approved for funding include multiple new park playgrounds, new camping hookups, and various park enhancements.
The following applicants received grant approval from the committee:
• Hunter Park Board - $16,071 to purchase new playground equipment for the Hunter City Park.
• Hannaford Park Board - $7,309 to purchase new playground equipment for the Hannaford City Park.
• Watford City Park Board - $50,000 to complete Phase II of the McKenzie County Veteran’s Park.
• Tolna Park District - $21,933 to construct new restrooms and purchase picnic tables at the Tolna City Park.
• Devils Lake Park Board - $18,750 to install a boat dock and slip at Creel Bay.
• Renville County - $572 for new signage at the Mouse River Park.
• Colfax Park Board - $2,925 for an outdoor community skating rink.
• Sargent County Park Board - $3,015 for new camping hookups at the Silver Lake Recreation Area.
• Mayville Park District - $13,585 for enhancements at Rainbow Garden.
• Minot Park District - $11,782 for new playground equipment at Roosevelt Park.
“We are gratified to help provide funding to communities in our district to achieve a better quality of life for enjoyment, recreation and community pride,” said Bill Krivarchka, Recreation Committee Chairman. “Our Recreation Committee is pleased with the distribution of yet another round of matching recreation grant program funds this year!”
Garrison Diversion dedicates two-tenths of its one-mill levy to the matching recreation grant program to qualifying projects within the 28-county district. The Recreation Committee meets every spring and fall to consider applications. The next deadline for recreation grant applications is April 1, 2019.
