From cheeseburgers to chicken strip baskets, chief cook Lucy Mack is responsible for preparing many of the tasty meals served at the Rockford Café. It isn't often that cooks get personally recognized for their work, but this month, Lucy is being acknowledged as the New Rockford Area Chamber of Commerce's Employee of the Month for October 2018.
Originally from Langdon, N.D., Lucy has lived in New Rockford since 1979. She began working at the Rockford Café in 1995. In her 23 year tenure at the downtown eating establishment, Lucy has also waited tables, giving her a keen sense of what the customers want. When asked what her favorite item on the menu was, it took her a minute to choose the patty melt.
Prior to her work at the Rockford Cafe, Lucy was the co-owner of G & L Cleaning for 13 years. When not at the Cafe, Lucy enjoys spending time with her son Rodney Swart and his family.
