Obituary: Jamie Lovejoy

Jamie Lovejoy, 47, of St. Michael, N.D., passed away Friday, Dec. 7, 2018 at CHI Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake, N.D. Funeral services were held Dec. 14 at St. Michael Rec Center. Burial will be at a later date in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery. Father Paul Schuster and Father Charles Leute, O.P. officiated. Special music was provided by the Spirit Lake Singers and drum groups. Casket bearers were: Jeff Whiteshield, Ivan Lovejoy Jr., Austin Longie, Dustin Lovejoy, Troy Lovejoy, Alvin Whiteshield, Fulton Whiteshield and Young Eagle Callousleg. Honorary bearers included: John Jetty, Cindy Thompson, Tracy Alberts, Robert Little Jr., Alan Little Jr., Jeannie and Louis Chaske, Percy Cavanaugh, Joey Blackboy, Mary and Jumbo Thompson, Richard Littleghost, Calvin Thompson, Richard Jackson, Trent Anderson, Vanessa Cavanaugh and family, Inez Belgard, Sandy Jackson, Donte Greene, Philomene Callousleg, Donovan RedRoad, Kevin RedRoad, Gail Uses Arrow and family, Jarrod Smith and Spirit Lake Ambulance.

Jamie was born Aug. 4, 1971 at Devils Lake, N.D., the son of Mary and the late, Francis J. Lovejoy. He grew up and attended school at Four Winds Elementary and Crow Creek in Stephan, S.D. He also attended Trapper Creek Job Corp where he operated heavy equipment. Jamie worked at Spirit Lake Grocery, Spirit Lake Casino and was also a carpenter.

Jamie is survived by his five children, James Lovejoy Jr., Sierra Lovejoy, Shauncina Lovejoy, Harley Lovejoy and Hayden Lovejoy; two grandchildren; brothers, Michael T. Jackson, Kieth (Angel) Longie, Gerald (Connie) Longie, Ivan (Lanette) Lovejoy Sr.; sisters, Myrna Whiteshield, Jada Longie, Fanette Lovejoy, Kasey (Brooks) Lovejoy, Ashley (Tylon) Slaughter, Ivy (Paul) Lovejoy, many many nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hunter Lovejoy, Benedict Lovejoy, Lucy and Felix Whiteshield, Terrence Guy, Nicole Bear, Dalton Whiteshield, Dillion Whiteshield, Sub Mallard and Issac Mallard.
