Sentencing set for Lail

Alex Lail, formerly of New Rockford and Fessenden, will be sentenced on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 10 a.m. The hearing is scheduled at the Barnes County Courthouse in Valley City. Judge Daniel Narum will preside over the sentencing hearing.

In August, Lail pleaded guilty to two Class A felony charges, four Class C felony charges, and one Class A misdemeanor. The charges included delivery and conspiracy to deliver methamphetamine, bribery, drug possession and ingestion charges, and domestic violence.

A jury trial in August found Lail guilty of two charges of attempted murder, both Class A felonies. Lail had attempted to hire individuals to kill his former wife and a former employee.
