Bowling News: Youth compete in City Bowling Tournament

The New Rockford junior bowling leagues held their annual city tournament at Wonder Lanes on Friday, Dec. 28, with 14 juniors taking part in the event. It is not a required event and is always held during the Christmas break.

The winners of the doubles event was Wyatt Dockter and Zander Anglebrandt. Second place went to Neecie Swart and Austin Weisenburger.

Mason Schuster was the winner of the 3-game singles event and and Zander took second place. All of these bowlers received trophies for their efforts.

High individual scores for the event were Mason Schuster with a 205 game and 539 scratch series and Zander Anglebrandt with a 197 game and a 544 and 539 series.

Wonder Lanes first half top scores

The following is a listing of the top scratch scores for men and women at Wonder Lanes at the end of the first half league action just prior to the Christmas break.

Women high games- Gail Roberts 225; Becky Kjos 224; Mary Kay Price 220; Peggy Dockter 220 and Taylor Cook 214. High women's series- Gail Roberts 584; Becky Kjos 572; Peggy Dockter 558; Mary K Price 554 and Codi Olson 552.

Men's high games- Rod Mills 288; Rob Schill 279; Rick Christianson 269; Brett Allmaras 267 and Trucker Roberts 264. Men's high series- Kyle Irmen 711; Trucker Roberts 705; Rick Christianson 703; Rob Schill 693 and Rod Mills 686.

Women's high average- Nancy Arendt 169; Gail Roberts 165 and Becky Kjos 161.

High for men was Rob Schill 209; Rick Christianson 205 and Trucker Roberts 196.

First half bowling league winners

The first half of the bowling season ended at Wonder Lanes just prior to the Christmas break. These winning teams will roll-off next spring against the second half winners for the league championships. The following is a listing of the winners.

The Sunday Night Mixed League was won by the Devils Lake Farmers Union Oilers team, with bowlers Dan Wanner, Anessa Bailey, Mike Seibel and Rob Schill.

The women's Lucky League was won the the Miller's Fresh Foods team, with bowlers Deb Stafford, Colleen Hagen and Serena Guler.

The men's Strikers League was won by the Northern Plains Electric with Carrington bowlers Jim Ryan and Rick Christianson and New Rockford bowlers John Hitz and Norris Kjos.
