The North Dakota Department of Health (NDDoH) Division of Medical Marijuana printed and issued registry identification cards for qualifying patients and designated caregivers who have approved applications. The NDDoH has mailed over 70 medical marijuana identification cards this week.
“With the issuance of qualifying patient and designated caregiver cards, we have moved the program closer to being fully implemented,” stated Jason Wahl, director of the Division of Medical Marijuana. “We are happy for those individuals receiving cards and we continue to see more individuals begin work on their applications.” NDDoH will continue to issue cards as qualifying patient and designated caregiver applications are approved.
NDDoH is expecting a dispensary to become operational in February. “Until a dispensary is operational and has made sales to qualifying patients, we want to remind individuals their cards alone do not allow them to possess marijuana under the laws for the Medical Marijuana Program,” said Wahl.
All registered qualifying patients and registered designated caregivers are required to carry their cards with them when making purchases of products, transporting products and consuming products. Law enforcement across the state have been provided the ability to verify the registry identification card status.
