Last Thursday, Jake and Amanda Hegland went to Grand Forks to watch the basketball game between the University of South Dakota and UND. Amanda’s cousin plays for USD. Last Saturday, Jake, Amanda, Fallyn and Piper went to Devils Lake to watch the sale at the sale barn.

Lester Roberts was in Minnewaukan on business on Friday. Saturday, Lester’s visitors were his brother, Roger and his daughter, Lezlee Thorson. Chad Getscher was a Sunday visitor.

Calvary Lutheran Church in Oberon will hold the annual meeting Sunday, Feb. 10 following the 9 a.m. service.

Breana Buehler of Mandan and Michael Pacheco and Mavis of Watford City spent the weekend at the Buehler farm. Saturday evening, Breana and Michael joined Todd and Nadley and Beau Buehler for supper in Devils Lake.

Doris Griffin took in a tatting class in Maddock on Friday. She said it is quite a complicated process. Following the class, Doris participated in the Lake Region District Health Unit first Community Health Needs Assessment. The discussion included the needs of the aging population, caretakers needs and some ambulance problems.

Heidi Thompson, Elin and Max of Grand Forks spent the weekend with her parents, Randy and Charlotte Simon. Friday night, Lee, Amy, Easton and Jaxon joined Heidi, Max and Elin for supper at Randy and Charlotte’s.

Kennedee and McKenzee Madson spent Tuesday and Wednesday with Great Grandpa and Grandma Madson due to no school because of the cold temperatures. Saturday, Dave and Linda traveled to Park River to cheer on last year’s Senior League bowlers at the annual Joe Klemen 40 Framer Tournament. The Madson’s did not bowl this year, but enjoyed spending time with the friends who did. A 40 framer amounts to four games without a break. Sunday afternoon, Linda accompanied Melodie, Kennedee and McKenzee to the Burdick Arena where the girls took part in the exhibition number their synchro team will perform at a competition in Moorhead next weekend. They are also learning their numbers for the annual ice show to be held in March in Devils Lake.

John and Donna Grann and family received very sad news that John’s younger brother, Paul, was not successful in the research treatment of cancer he was undergoing in Houston. He is back home in Perth, N.D., now under the care of his family and home health. This is indeed, sad news for Paul and his family. Prayers continue for them.
