District Judge Daniel Narum was re-elected this month to a 3-year term as Presiding Judge of the Southeast Judicial District beginning Feb. 1.
Presiding judges are elected by the judges in each judicial district. In addition to working as a trial judge, the presiding judge has administrative and management responsibilities with the judicial district.
The Southeast Judicial District includes Stutsman, Barnes, Richland, Eddy, Foster, Wells, Griggs, Logan, McIntosh, Kidder, Sargent, Ransom, Dickey and LaMoure counties. There are seven judges in the the Southeast Judicial District.
Judge Narum was appointed to the district court in 2006 by Governor Hoeven and elected in 2008, re-elected in 2010 and 2016.
Narum served in the United States Navy before graduating from North Dakota State University and the University of North Dakota School of Law.
Judge Narum is a Rutland, ND native and lives in LaMoure with his wife Caroline Homan and their children, Asher and Ellery.
