Three locals prevail at district Knights of Columbus free throw contest

The District 13 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship was held Feb. 3 in the Carrington High School Gym. Winners from the local Knights of Columbus free throw contests in Devils Lake, Lakota, Carrington and New Rockford were invited to the district event.

Eight winning students from New Rockford's contest participated in the district shoot off. Each contestant shot 25 free throws. Congratulations to the local students who won their division at the district and will advance to the regional contest: Emmie Belquist, 9-year-old-girls champ; Kaiya O'Connor, 12-year-old-girls champ, and Porter Granger, 12-year-old-boys champ.

The regional competition will be held at Valley City on Sunday, Feb. 24 at 1 p.m. Winners will advance to the state shoot off later in Bismarck.
