Obituary: Arlen Shape

Arlen Russell (Grumpy) Shape, 67, Valley City, N.D., passed away Feb. 11, 2019. The funeral service was held Feb. 15, 2019 at Epworth United Methodist Church in Valley City. Burial will be in the spring at Memory Gardens.

He was born in Valley City, April 7, 1951 to Russell and Lorraine (Buck) Shape. After graduating from North Central High School, Arlen met the love of his life, Pat Downs. They were married June 29, 1973. Arlen pursued a career in farming and ranching, he joined Aggregate Industries where he worked for nearly 25 years.

Arlen is survived by his wife; son, Chad (Kari) Shape; daughter, Kellie (Erin) Albrecht; brothers Marvin (Terry), Keith, and Kevin Shape; and his sister Sue (Tom) Paske. He also leaves behind four grandsons and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Patricia; and his in-laws, Bob and Juliet Downs.
