Benefit planned for Chad Allmaras

UPDATE: The benefit for Chad Allmaras has been rescheduled for May 4.

Fill your belly and make a freewill donation to help local resident, Chad Allmaras, pay for mounting medical expenses.

The benefit will be held on Saturday, March 16 at the Eagles Club in New Rockford.

Chad Allmaras is a graduate of the North Dakota School for Deaf, Class of 1990, and is from Sykeston.

Beginning in 2006, Allmaras began experiencing abdomial issues, eventually leading to the diagnosis of an enlarged prostrate and an enlarged bladder.

In January of 2018, Chad was diagnosed with colonic inertia and slow transit. Since February 2018, the treatment of his condition and resulting complications have lead to three surgeries, seven prolonged hospital stays (each lasting 7-9 days).

The pre-and post-op office visits, surgeries and hospital stays have required many trips to Bismarck.

In January of 2019, Allmaras was referred to a specialist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. He made the trip there in February, where he was diagnosed with pelvic floor dyssynergia, which will require 4-6 months of intense specialized physical therapy.

While able to keep his job at Shopko in Carrington for the time being, Allmaras has only been able to work sporadically due to his hospitalization and recovery.

The surgeries, hospital stay, prescriptions (some he has to take for the rest of his life,) the trips to Bismarck and Rochester, the physical therapy and the loss of work have all caused huge debts to pile up.

Donations to help Allmaras are very much appreciated. Donations may be made payable and dropped off or mailed to either of the following locations:
