Chamber Employee of the Month knows how to "Do-it Best"

When you find yourself looking for a much needed household item like a vacuum belt, piping for a kitchen sink or garden hose, where do you go? What about a pair of leather work gloves, a bag of potting soil or a can of spray paint?

If you answered Do-it Best Hardware, then chances are you've received customer service from March's employee of the month, Charleen Libby.

Charleen is a 2002 graduate of New Rockford High School and is the daughter of Albert and Alice Boeckle. She was raised on their farm outside of Grace City.

She is one of two employees who work for owners Todd and Renae Duchscherer and has a vast knowledge of the products Do it Best offers, from all the little things to the large equipment. The morning she received the award she had been assembling grills for the upcoming spring displays.

Two days a week, Charleen works at Duchscherer's NAPA Auto Parts location on U.S. Highway 281. There she is learning a whole new set of skills- how to look up, locate and sometimes order merchandise that's specific to a customer's vehicle. The rest of her working hours are spent downtown at the Do-it-Best location, where she serves a wide variety of customers.

Having worked at the hardware store since 2015, Charleen has gained a great deal of knowledge and strives to help her customers. In that time, she has learned a lot about the products. This is no easy feat, as Do-it-Best offers a great variety. "There is far more in stock here in the store than people could ever imagine," she said.

Whether new in town or a fifth generation resident, nearly everyone can find what they need at Do-it-Best. Some of the customers even like to stop and visit about her parents, who now live in Jamestown.

Charleen was nominated by Amy Wobbema. "Charleen is always friendly and right there to help me find whatever I need as soon as I come in the door," Wobbema said. "Small, independent businesses like Do it Best are so important to our local economy, and Charleen's service makes it so easy for me to choose local, whether I need batteries, bolts or a snowblower."
