Track & Field Results: Rocket boys & girls third at Belcourt

The New Rockford-Sheyenne track team made their way up to Belcourt Tuesday, March 26, for the indoor Turtle Mountain Community High School (TMCHS) Invitational.

Both the Rocket boys and girls brought home third-place finishes at the meet. The girls from NR-S scored 63 points and the boys tied with Dakota Prairie for 49.

Meet champions were Devils Lake in the boys’ race, while Langdon/Edmore/Munich edged out the Firebirds for the girls’ trophy by five points, 74.5-69.5.

Bo Belquist swept the boys’ short sprints, winning the 55, 200 and 400-meter dashes. Top-five performances at the meet were also turned in by Parker Granger (3rd, 55); Kaden Jensen (5th, 400); and Hunter Johnson (5th, shot put).

The NR-S girls came out with two event champions. Hannah Haley won the 55-meter hurdles, and the 800-meter run was won by Elizabeth Widmer. Widmer would also place third in the 400 and sixth in the 200.

Brianna Price took second overall in the 400 dash, and placed fourth in the 55. A pair of top-five showings came from Kelsie Belquist (4th, 400; 5th, 55), and Haley was fifth in the 400. In the mile run, Chloe Heinz came in third.
