Obituary: Audrey Donegan

Audrey Mae Donegan, 91, passed away peacefully May 17, 2019, at Golden Acres Manor in Carrington. The funeral was held May 29 at Voorhees Chapel at the Jamestown College campus. Rev. Rick Loewen officiated, with special music provided by Jeffrey Joyce and David Morlock. Burial was at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, N.D. Honorary bearers were Jayden Thornton and all of Audrey's grand and great-grandchildren.

Audrey was born Aug. 3, 1927, in Jamestown, to Erwin Moug and Lynfred (Elliott) Moug. She attended school in Bowdon, N.D., and graduated in 1945. Upon graduation, she worked as a telegraph operator for the Northern Pacific Railway in Mandan, and was the first woman to be offered a depot position, which she turned down. In 1946, Audrey met and fell in love with Robert Donegan, who was a Railroad Engineer in Jamestown. They were united in marriage on Aug. 26, 1950, at St. James Catholic Church in Jamestown.

Audrey was very active in the Democratic Party on both the state and national level and was the James Valley Rails Secretary.

She is survived by her children; Kelly (Becky) Donegan, Jamestown and Jennine Albrecht, Jamestown; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Bud Moug, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and her beloved pet dog, Roxie.

Audrey is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; sister Alice Hart; and son-in-law Tim Albrecht.
