Lester Roberts attended the funeral of Norris Rud Thursday, May 30 at Grandfield Lutheran Church, rural Sheyenne. Lester also took in the Memorial Day program in Sheyenne. Friday, Lester traveled to the International Peace Gardens to attend the Friday night activities prior to the Annual International Fiddle Contest held at the Memorial Auditorium which was held on Saturday. He stayed in Bottineau Friday night. Saturday morning, Lester went back for the fiddle contest. Following that, he drove to western North Dakota enjoying the sites. He spent Saturday night in Tioga. He continued his sight-seeing on Sunday and on his way home, he stopped by to visit his sister, June, in Wellsburg.

Marlene and Karen Hendrickson were Monday morning coffee guests at the home of Randy and Charlotte Simon. Heidi, Elin and Max Thompson of Grand Forks visited her parents, Randy and Charlotte, Saturday and Sunday. Amy, Jaxon and Easton Simon stopped by Randy and Charlotte’s on their way home from spending time at the lake on Sunday.

Dave and Linda Madson took in the Memorial Day Program that was held at the Memorial Building in Devils Lake. Thursday evening, Linda accompanied Melodie and McKenzee Madson to the Lake Region School for the Performing Arts production of “Frozen” held at the Lake Region College auditorium. Kennedee Madson played the role of “Middle Anna” and sang a solo. She was also a member of the Castle Staff as well as the Snow/Summer chorus. It was delightful.

Sunday evening, Melodie and Linda Madson were supper guests at the home of Michael and Amy Jacobson.

Ben and Brittany Grann purchased Beau and Bria Buehler’s house and on Tuesday moved it to the former Emil Nelson/John Sookov farmstead east of Oberon. They are excited to move in. John Grann had an incident of irregular heartbeat and spent the weekend in a Bismarck hospital. Donna brought him home Sunday and he is feeling much better. Glad to hear that he is better. Ben Grann helped the Terry Smith family with their branding on Saturday. Bobbi, Brittany, Lacey and Johnny Grann entered rodeos in Hawley, Minn., and Elgin and Wing, N.D. over the weekend.

Joel and Debbie Hjelseth of Chattanooga, Tenn., spent a week visiting the Buehler family. They also visited Joel’s mother, Lois Hjelseth of Carrington several times during their stay. Brittin Rae Buehler was baptized Saturday afternoon at the Todd and Nadley Buehler farm. Her sponsors are Bryce and Cydney Knaust of Horace and Elisa Buehler and Joe Wentz of Bismarck. Joining the parents, Beau and Bria, in the celebration were Pastor Jeff Halvorson, great grandparents, Dale and Carol Haarsager of Fargo, grandparents, Ron and Laurie Knaust also of Fargo and Todd and Nadley, great aunt and uncle, Joel and Debbie Hjelseth, auntie, Breana Buehler of Mandan and uncle, Michael Pacheco and Mavis of Watford City, uncle, Hunter Buehler and Grace Ihry of Valley City. Following the baptism, the family enjoyed supper at the Buehler farm. Sunday evening guests at the Buehler home were the Hjelseth’s, Breana, Elisa and Joe Wentz from Bismarck-Mandan, Michael Pacheco and Mavis of Watford City, Grace Ihry of Valley City and Beau, Bria, Brittin and Benji Buehler.

Howard and Helen Schmid traveled to Minot to visit Howard’ sister, Sonja Lee on Monday.
