This year's summer production at the Dakota Prairie Regional Center for the Arts is the musical classic, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Oklahoma!” Meet the cast of the show on Tuesday, June 18 at the Centennial (Gazebo) Park from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. In the event of rain, the event will be held at the Old Church Theatre.
“Oklahoma!” takes place in the Western Indian Territory just after the turn of the 20th century. The play is based around a love story between a cowboy named Curly and a farm girl named Laurey, all caught up in a very spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys. They converge in the brand new state of Oklahoma.
The evening of fun will include a performance by the Opera House Youth Actors (OHYA) “littles,” theatre games and a sneak peek at the choreography and music of “Oklahoma!”
A picnic supper of hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, chips and lemonade will be served. There will be a free- will donation box, and all the proceeds will go towards the Dakota Spark Youth Arts Program. Don’t forget to bring your lawn chairs!
