Last week: Amanda Hegland’s parents, Terry and Nancy Weischedel were guests at Jake and Amanda’s home over the Fourth of July holiday. Fallyn Hegland helped her dad Jake, and grandpa Terry, drive her pony and cart in the Fourth of July parade in Sheyenne. Jarvis and Patty and great-grandma, Emily Stadheim as well as Nancy, Piper and Amanda watched the parade. Following the parade, the group ate at the stone-pit barbecue at Ostby Hall in Sheyenne. Friday, Jake and Amanda hosted a barbecue at their home with family attending. Saturday, the group took in the Maddock parade at their celebration and then attended the rodeo in Sheyenne. Sunday morning, the Hegland’s and Nancy and Terry enjoyed breakfast at Jarvis and Patty’s home.
This week: Doris Griffin helped with judging at the Benson County 4-H Achievement Days in Maddock on Friday. On Saturday, Doris took her washing machine show to Manfred, N.D., for their annual Pioneer Days and spent the day there.
Thursday evening, Howard and Helen Schmid attended the DPRCA production of “Oklahoma!” in New Rockford at the Old Church Theatre stage. The Schmid’s gave the show a two thumbs up review. Sunday, Howard’s sister, Sonja Lee and his niece, Janet Shea of Minot and Jason Lee of Maddock were visitors at the Schmid home. Since, Sonja grew up at Oberon, it was a special treat to tour Oberon and the Hillside Cemetery where many family members are buried. Howard and Helen also had a three-day visit from Jim and Janice Sakry of Arizona. They were traveling in their RV and camped in their RV in the yard.
Lester Roberts and his daughter, Lezlee Thorson traveled to Grand Forks on Monday. Lezlee kept a medical appointment. They had lunch with Peggy Kindem. Lester and Lezlee were in Grand Forks again on Wednesday where they did some shopping. Roger Roberts was a Saturday visitor at Lester’s home. Lester was a Sunday visitor at Lezlee and Bob’s camp site at the Bayview Campground.
There will be a graveside service for Jackie Roberts on July 27, 2 p.m. at Hillside Cemetery in Oberon with coffee to follow at the Community Center.
Randy and Charlotte Simon were in Medora Monday through Wednesday. Charlotte judged the Clover Buds Division (ages 8 and under) exhibits at the Benson County 4-H Achievement Days in Maddock on Friday. Friday evening, the Simon’s were dinner guests at Terry Peterson Linehan’s home. Charlotte attended the graveside service for Mark Ellingson Saturday afternoon. The Simon’s took in the 4-H Premium Sale Saturday evening.
Jakob Schmid was home from Bismarck for the weekend. Jake helped at the 4-H Achievement Days by helping with the judging of exhibits on Saturday. Pam also helped with activities.
Jarvis and Patty Hegland, granddaughter, Emma Zietz and Patty’s mother, Emily Stadheim met assorted family members for lunch in Bismarck on Wednesday. After lunch, Emily kept a medical appointment.
Emma Zietz came to the Hegland home for the Fourth of July weekend and stayed until Thursday.
Friday, Emma, Patty and the remaining Zietz family went to the Red River Valley Fair and the Troll Wood Musical, “Freaky Friday.”
Nadley Buehler visited niece, Amanda Schwartzbauer and family Saturday morning at their home in Bismarck. Amanda was being honored with a baby shower. Nadley joined Elisa and Breana Buehler and friends Saturday evening for supper and an escape room activity in Bismarck. On Sunday, the group was treated to a delicious breakfast hosted by Erin Becker. Hunter Buehler spent the weekend in Fargo taking in the fair and visiting friends. Nadley visited Ted and Ann Sitz in Harvey Sunday afternoon.
Dave and Linda Madson and Mr. Syl Brown enjoyed a cookout at Melodie Madson’s home Saturday evening. Sunday afternoon, Carrie Madson and Paul Prince were visitors at Dave and Linda’s and also at Melodie’s home.
