Ben, Brittany, Bobbi and Lacey Grann competed in the rodeos in Maddock and Ft. Totten over the weekend.

The Sheyenne-New Rockford Black Sox Babe Ruth baseball team won District 2 and competed in the State Baseball Tournament in Watford City. John and Donna Grann enjoyed cheering on Johnny Grann and the team. They won two games and lost two.

Tom and Pam Schmid attended the State Fair in Minot on Friday. Saturday night, Tom, Pam and JD took in the wedding reception and dance for Kyle Wetzel and Mariah Mertz.

Doris Griffin volunteered at the store at Sully’s Hill last Sunday. Monday, Doris attended a meeting regarding the store. Doris took another carving lesson this week and her Norwegian Ale Bowl is showing progress.

Howard and Helen Schmid stopped by to see James Nelson on Thursday.The Schmid’s took in the city-wide garage sale, crafts and food in Sheyenne Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon, Howard and Helen attended the graveside services for Jackie Roberts at the Hillside Cemetery in Oberon. Following the service, coffee and fellowship was held at the Community Center.

Tuesday evening, Lester Roberts and James Nelson went for a ride on Lester’s golf cart. Lester visited his daughter, Lezlee Thorson at her camper at Bayside Campground Wednesday. Friday found Lester in Maddock.

Saturday afternoon, many friends and relatives attended the graveside service for Jackie Roberts at the Oberon Cemetery and the coffee after at the Community Center. Our sympathy again for Jackie’s family. She is missed.

Lester visited James Nelson Sunday evening.

Grace Ihry visited Hunter Buehler and the family Monday through Wednesday. Charlotte Simon brought birthday greetings and cake to Nadley Buehler Thursday afternoon. Happy Birthday, Nadley. Breana and Elisa Buehler and Joe Wentz spent the weekend at the Todd and Nadley Buehler farm. They celebrated Nadley and Beau’s birthdays with supper and dessert. They later had a bonfire and fireworks at Beau and Bria’s home. Happy birthday, Beau. Breana, Elisa and Joe visited Beau and Bria and baby Brittin Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

On Friday, Jake, Amanda, Fallyn and Piper Hegland along with Amanda’s parents, Terry and Nancy Weischedel and Amanda’s sister Angie Alexander of Newell, S.D. went to the movie in New Rockford. Nancy, Angie and Amanda took in the Crazy Day in Sheyenne on Saturday.

Saturday afternoon, a birthday party was held for Fallyn who is a big girl of 4 years old. Fallyn’s Uncle Ryder and Aunt Alyssa of Jamestown as well as Aunt Jill Zietz and her children, cousins Emma, Rosa, Silas and Logan, Grandpa Jarvis and Grandma Patty and Great Grandma Emily Stadheim all helped Fallyn celebrate her big day. Happy Birthday, Fallyn.

Dave and Linda Madson enjoyed the Arts in the Park music of Rick Senger in Devils Lake Tuesday evening. Dave and Linda, Melodie, Kennedee and McKenzee Madson traveled to Jamestown Saturday morning for an overnight stay with Shawn and Cathy Caulfield. The Madson’s and Caulfield’s enjoyed a visit from longtime Navy days friends, Sandra Dobler of Imperial Beach, Calif. and her daughter, Laurie Benham of Point Loma. The ladies have been traveling since Sunday taking in sights and visiting relatives and friends along the way. Everyone enjoyed food and lots of visiting as well as a bonfire Saturday evening. The Madsons returned home Sunday afternoon and Laurie and Sandy continued on their travels to visit relatives in Tower City.

Thought to remember: Humility is a strange thing…when you think you’ve gained it, you’ve lost it.
