The Women's Auxiliary Cemetery Association is asking visitors to please be patient in the coming weeks as crews will be working to remove the remaining blue spruce trees that were damaged during the windstorm last July.
The association has contracted with Hager Excavating of New Rockford for this is first phase of the overall recovery and beautification plan. Work will begin Aug. 26. Costs associated with this project will be offset by a North Dakota Forestry Service Community Forestry Grant "America the Beautiful." A landscape architect has drawn up plans for the tree replacement. A complete plan and drawings will be placed in the Transcript at a later date.
Please note that during construction a few memorial markers and headstones may have to be moved out of the way so trees and stumps can be removed. They will be reset in their original position one trees are removed.
Electricity has been restored and lines buried to eliminate further problems. The water will be restored next year due to the broken pipes and water pump maintenance.
Donations are greatly needed and very much appreciated. Please mail to Women's Auxiliary Cemetery Association at PO Box 303, New Rockford, ND 58356.
