Oberon Oracles: Sept. 9, 2019

There was no news from Oberon last week because I was spending time with our son, Stacy Madson, who made a short visit home from Ranchester, Wyo. He attended the wedding, reception and dance for Jaycee Howard on Saturday in Lincoln, N.D. on Saturday, Aug. 24.

Sunday, the birthdays of Dave Madson and McKenzee Madson were celebrated with Shawn and Cathy Caulfield of Jamestown, Stacy Madson, Melodie, Kennedee and McKenzee Madson of Devils Lake, Jay Prince of Colorado, and Dave and Linda Madson. Carrie Madson and Paul Prince hosted the party at the Madson farm. Dave, Linda and Stacy were overnight guests at Carrie and Paul’s Sunday night.

Stacy was an overnight guest at Dave and Linda’s in Devils Lake, and he spent Tuesday visiting friends in the Oberon area. He stopped by Dave and Linda’s Wednesday evening on his way to Jamestown to spend the night with Cathy and Shawn Caulfield and made his way back to his home in Wyoming Thursday morning.

Dave and Linda kept medical appointments in Grand Forks on Tuesday.

Kelly VenHuizen of Cooperstown was a brief visitor on Wednesday afternoon on his way home from a business trip to Minot.

Dave and Linda, Melodie, Kennedee and McKenzee, Carrie and Paul and Jay enjoyed spending Saturday and Sunday at Dave and Linda’s camper at 6-Mile Bay.

Last Friday, Pam Schmid and Jane Smith traveled to Grand Forks and did some shopping.

Newton Dick and Galen of Lorena, Texas visited Lester Roberts last Sunday.

Lester accompanied Les Ferry to the annual fish fry and corn feed at the Burdick Arena in Devils Lake Wednesday evening.

Lester celebrated his birthday on Friday. Happy belated greetings to Lester. 

Roger visited Lester on Saturday.

Sunday, Lester enjoyed the festivities at the annual Stump Lake Threshing Show. Stacy Madson visited James Nelson on Tuesday.

Keith and Nancy Tweten and Jared Tweten and his family visited James over the Labor Day weekend.

Howard and Helen Schmid attended services at Grandfield Lutheran Church on Sunday.

Brittany Grann spent last Monday through Thursday in Scottsdale, Ariz., for meetings. The temperature was 116 degrees one day.

Bobbi Grann spent last weekend in Eastern Montana competing in rodeos.

John, Donna, Lacey and Johnny Grann went to the International Peace Gardens last Saturday. Donna said the flowers are very beautiful this time of year.

Donna, Lacey and Johnny attended the wedding dance for Donna’s great niece, Jaycee Howard in Lincoln, N.D., Saturday, Aug. 24. Jaycee married Alex Krick of Bismarck.

Bill Kennedy from Ankeny, Iowa and Lloyd Burgess of Minnewaukan stopped by to visit the Granns on Tuesday.

Ben Grann judged a rodeo in Mandan on Saturday.

Keith and Carol Hendrickson of Bismarck spent the Labor Day weekend with Keith’s mother, Marlene Hendrickson.

Keith and Carol, accompanied by Les Ferry of Devils Lake, enjoyed the activities at Stump Lake on Sunday.

Sunday following church services in Maddock, Randy and Charlotte Simon had lunch at the Esmond Café and then went on to visit Charlotte’s mother, Joan Bosch, at the Care Center in Rugby.
