*Sept. 26: Valley City Ducks Unlimited Waterfowl Hunter Party, Valley City Eagles, 5:30 p.m.
*Sept. 28: Nonresident waterfowl season opens.
Fishing:
*Devils Lake elevation, Sept. 17: 1,448.26 feet above mean sea level (MSL).
*Stump Lake elevation: 1,448.21 MSL.
*Lake Sakakawea elevation: 1,846.65 MSL; 45,400 cubic feet per second average (CFS) Garrison Dam daily releases.
*N.D. Game and Fish Dept. Dist. game wardens: No reports from east-central lakes, Lake Sakakawea, or Devils Lake Better catfish success with warmer weather. Try deep holes using cut suckers or frogs for larger fish. Work an area up to 30 minutes before moving.
*Devils Lake, Ed’s Bait Shop, Devils Lake: Try jigging with minnows or casting jigging Raps for walleye in East Devils Lake with improving success around the bridges in the morning or evening. Anglers starting to somewhat improving size among the walleye. Also try spinners and bottom bouncers in 14 feet. Continued good white bass success throughout the lake. A few pike starting to show up.
*Devils Lake, Lakeview Lodge, Minnewaukan: Continued small walleye success working the bridges, especially 6-Mile Bay. Look for white bass activity in the north end of 6-Mile.
*Devils Lake, West Bay Resort, Minnewaukan: Not as many anglers on the water but those going continue finding fair walleye success with some size improvement, as well.
*Devils Lake, Woodland Resort, Devils Lake: Most anglers continue trolling along the highways with spinners and bottom bouncers but try transitioning to vertical jigs around the rock piles and bridges in deeper water.
*Foster County area lakes, Dry Dock, Carrington: Some activity on Devils Lake but not many reports from area lakes.
*Jamestown Reservoir, Pioneer Bait & Tackle, Jamestown: Not many new reports.
*Jamestown Reservoir, Sooper Stop, Jamestown: Some fall activity on the Jamestown Reservoir. Look for some late season activity other smaller area lakes.
*Lake Ashtabula, Ashtabula Crossing, Luverne: Improving walleye success using spinners and bottom bouncers with minnows. Some perch and bass in shallower water along the rocks.
*Lake Ashtabula, Bayshore, Valley City: Not many new reports.
*Lake Sakakawea, Cenex Bait & Tackle, Garrison: East end of Lake Sakakawea fair for walleye. Work a variety of depths and presentations. Try the blowout area of the spillway channel or chutes for walleye on the Missouri River. Lots of activity on Lake Audubon but no reports.
*Lake Sakakawea, Indian Hills Resort, Garrison: Try jigging Raps with minnows in 20 to 25 feet but most anglers are working deeper in 40 feet. Try the south side.
*Lake Sakakawea/Lake Audubon/Missouri River, Scott’s Bait and Tackle, Pick City: Missouri River continues producing decent walleye activity from shore in the morning and evening. Try slow death hook or Lindy rigs and bottom bouncers in the spillway channel or down river. Good numbers of smaller walleye in the spillway. Chutes producing a mix of catfish, salmon, and walleye. Lake Sakakawea spotty for walleye. Try slow death hooks and nightcrawlers in 30 feet or jigs and minnows around Steinke Bay, 7 Sisters, Alcatraz or Douglas Bay. Salmon still somewhat spotty. Some downrigging yet but more fish coming along the face of the dam or even Douglas Bay longlining crankbaits in 30 feet. Work deeper down to 60 feet during the day. No large numbers of salmon, yet.
*Lonetree WMA area lakes, Harvey:
*Pipestem Reservoir, Pioneer Bait & Tackle, Jamestown: No new reports.
*Pipestem Reservoir, Sooper Stop, Jamestown: Little to no activity.
*Spiritwood Lake, Pioneer Bait & Tackle, Jamestown: Fair bass activity.
*Spiritwood Lake, Sooper Stop, Jamestown: Continued bass success.
Hunting:
*Archery deer: Fair early season success with hunters generally seeing more deer, although not that much movement yet.
*Waterfowl: Fair local bird numbers.
