The wedding ceremony of Elisa Buehler and Joe Wentz has been moved to Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Devils Lake at a different time. It will be at 3:30 p.m. The reception and dance will remain the same. Grace Ihry visited Hunter Buehler over the weekend.

Lacey Grann spent the week in Mandan to attend training for her job. James and Irene Thompson from La Junta, Colo., stopped by to visit and have muffins and coffee at John and Donna Grann’s residence Friday morning. Friday evening, Johnny Grann fans, Jim and Nancy Meier, made the trip from Elgin to watch the NR-S Rockets take on the North Border Eagles in the homecoming football game. The Meier’s then were overnight guests at the Grann home. Brittany, Bobbi and Donna Grann competed in a barrel racing event in Bowman over the weekend. John Grann accompanied them.

Howard and Helen Schmid were noon luncheon guests at the home of Randy and Charlotte Simon on Thursday.

Lester Roberts attended the James Nelson auction sale in Oberon on Friday. Lester and Les Ferry attended the annual Steam Threshers Reunion in New Rockford on Sunday. Lester was visited by Midge Quam Sunday afternoon. Sunday evening, Lester visited James Nelson.

Monday, Charlotte Simon, along with other members of the Association of Carefree Teachers met at the Esmond School and were treated to High Tea. The group toured the portion of the school that is now a museum of the Esmond School memorabilia with school trophies, class pictures up to the last graduation class of 1992. Friday afternoon, Randy and Charlotte attended the burial service at the Oberon cemetery for Lew Simon, oldest son of Lloyd and Jean Simon, former Oberon area residents. Lloyd was Jack Simon’s brother. Friday night, Randy and Charlotte hosted supper for Lew’s sisters, Linda Colf and Lana Halvorson along with Howard and Helen Schmid; Rita and Dean Sorlie, Barb Steinmetz; Lori Maddock; Mark, Tessa, Miles and Mason Simon; Lee, Amy, Easton and Jaxon Simon; and Carson, Heidi, Max and Elin Thompson. Charlotte helped at the Maddock Opera House silent auction Saturday. Later on Saturday, the family celebrated Miles Simon’s third birthday. Sunday, the Simon’s attended the Maddock Preschool program fundraiser at the Maddock school and had a roast beef dinner. Sunday afternoon, Randy and Charlotte enjoyed the musical production “No Clue” in Maddock.

Wednesday, Linda Madson’s cousin, David VenHuizen of Anoka, Minn., was an afternoon and supper guest at the Madson home. Dave, Linda, Melodie, Kennedee, McKenzee, and Carrie Madson, Paul Prince and his brother, Jay celebrated Jay’s birthday with supper at the Spirit Lake Casino Friday evening. Linda accompanied Sheryl Erickson and her granddaughter, Jayden to the wedding and reception of Brock Hoime and Jay Cee Johnson in Leeds Saturday evening. Sunday afternoon, Carrie, Paul and Jay helped with some projects at Dave and Linda’s home. Sunday evening, Dave and Linda hosted supper for Carrie, Paul, Jay, Melodie, Kennedee, McKenzee and Mr. Syl Brown at their home.

Doris Griffin spent the New Rockford Steam Threshers weekend at the carving table sponsored by the Lake Region Wood Carvers with three other members. Doris felt that there did not seem to be as many people as usual attending the show, but those that did attend seemed to be having a good time in spite of all the water.

A Thought to Remember: It doesn’t do any good to sit up and take notice if you just keep on sitting.
