Rockets top Lakota

New Rockford-Sheyenne played a pretty good overall match Tuesday. The Rockets defeated Lakota by a final score of 3-1, in Region 4 Volleyball action, played here.

At one time, Lakota led 12-8. Then the locals went on a 14-5 run to go up 22-17, and New Rockford-Sheyenne won set one 25-12. Set two was tied up at 7-7 but the Rockets rolled from there going on a 13-2 run and won set two, 25-10.  

Lakota played well in set three, as they jumped out to a 6-0 lead. New Rockford-Sheyenne cut the lead to 12-9. The visitors scored 5 straight to go up 17-9 and Lakota won set three 25-15. Set four was close to begin with. It was tied up at 3-3. However, New Rockford- Sheyenne went on a 13-4 run to go up 16-7, and the Rockets went on to win set four 25-14, and again won the match 3-1. It was a pretty competitive match between two fairly evenly matched teams.

The Rockets are now 6-2 in Region 4 and are 8-9, overall. Region standings are determined by a point system, with select games counting for two points.

Next action for the Rockets is Monday, Oct. 14, when the locals travel to Four Winds. The first match is set for 3:30 p.m.

Due to weather, the home volleyball game that was scheduled for Oct. 15 vs. North Star is rescheduled for Nov. 1, starting at 3:30.
