Obituary: Larry J. Lies

Larry J. Lies, 76, Detroit Lakes, Minn., died Oct. 3 at Sanford Health in Fargo. No service is planned.

Larry James Lies was born July 31, 1943 in New Rockford, N.D. to Ernest and Mary (Settlemeyer) Lies. He was raised and educated in New Rockford and attended NDSU and the Dakota Business College. Larry was a police officer with the Fargo Police Department 1967 – 2005, having attained the rank of Investigator. Larry was united in marriage to Geraldine Knutson, Aug. 28, 1964 in Bremen, N.D.

Survivors include his wife; children: Tammy Lies, Fargo; Stacy (Catherine) Lies, Fargo; Levi Lies of Tucson, Ariz.; two grandchildren; a brother, Wilfred (Linda) Lies, Fargo and Vicky (G. A.) Guttmann of Victoria, Texas.

He was preceded in death by three brothers: Neil, Terry and Nolan.
