In between bouts of nasty weather, whether it be rain or dense snow, the hardy NR-S cross country runners took to one of the bigger meets in the area on Saturday, Oct. 5.
The Souris Valley Invitational in Minot drew over 250 runners for both the boys’ and girls’ varsity divisions.
NR-S’ top finisher was junior Chloe Heinz, who earned a spot in the top 100 with a 90th place time of 22:18.28. Katie Allmaras, an eighth grader, took home 149th (24:02.83), and sophomore Mya Cudworth was 178th (25:52.65).
The Rockets’ boys competitor was freshman Harrison Joseph, who finished in 222nd in a 23:35.31 clocking.
Coach Cherry Heinz’s group hits the home stretch for the postseason meets now. This past Saturday, the team traveled to Cooperstown for the East Region Meet, and will return to the Souris Valley Golf Course for the State Class A and B Cross Country Meet this upcoming Saturday, Oct. 26.
