Heinz finishes in top 40 at East Region XC meet

New Rockford-Sheyenne junior Chloe Heinz placed 34th overall in the girls' Class B East Region Cross Country Meet in Cooperstown Saturday morning, Oct. 19.

Heinz ran the five-kilometer course in 23 minutes, 4.33 seconds to finish as the Rockets' top overall runner. Katie Allmaras was just out of the top 50, crossing the finish line in 51st place (23:53.06), while Mya Cudworth was 114th in 26:20.72.

NR-S did not have the minimum five runners to achieve a true team score, but placed 17th among the Eastern teams. Rugby won the girls' meet with 66 points, followed by Hillsboro-Central Valley's 127 and Kindred with 139.

The Rockets' one male runner, freshman Harrison Joseph, placed 170th in a 24:34.94 time. NR-S was 29th in the standings on the boys' side, which was won by HCV with 63. Griggs County Central (96) took second and Kindred (123) was third.

The running season concluded this past Saturday with the State Cross Country Meet at Souris Valley Golf Course in Minot.
