Rues honored at NDSU Harvest Bowl

The 46th annual Harvest Bowl recognized the success, dedication and hard work of outstanding agriculturists from 61 counties in North Dakota and Minnesota. This year's event was held Nov. 8 at North Dakota State University.

Greg and Brenda Rue were the Eddy County couple recognized. The Rue family raises cereal grains and row crops, as well as beef cattle, on a fourth-generation farm near Sheyenne. They use direct-seeding and minimum-tillage farming practices and have been farming for 39 years.

Gary and Brenda received the Eddy County Soil Conservation District Achievement Award in 2014. Greg also is a member of the Grandfield Cemetery Board. Brenda is a former 4-H Council member and 4-H leader. They have two children.

Other area farmers recognized at the Harvest Bowl include Tom and Pam Schmid of Oberon; Jeff and Kim Edland, Glenfield; Duane and Janell Feiring, McHenry; Bruce and Deb Ellertson, Michigan; Matthew and Sharlene Olson, Devils Lake.

To date, the Harvest Bowl program has recognized over 2,700 agriculturists.
