New Rockford-Sheyenne may have gotten their tickets to the ball, but their stay on the dance floor was unfortunately short-lived.
The Benson County Wildcats took three sets from the Rockets, 25-14, 25-18 and 25-18, to finish the NR-S volleyball campaign in the opening round of the Region 4 Tournament at the Devils Lake Sports Center Monday night, Nov. 11.
Kayahna Hopfauf had six kills for the Rockets in the loss, with two players, Hannah Haley and McKayla Waldo, each accounting for four. Hopfauf and Waldo's efforts produced five combined blocks, and Mya Cudworth's three aces were a match highlight for NR-S.
Libero Cassie Longnecker finished with 15 digs, and Dani Bjerke pushed up 16 assists in the Rockets' ledger.
The team finished with an overall record of 14-17 in Sara Myhre's first season as the varsity head coach.
Departing the program for graduation are five seniors. Haley, Brianna Price, Abigail Guthmiller, Makayla Biel and Kindra Jacobson all donned the Columbia blue for the final time as net players.
