It was a very physical game overall. New Rockford-Sheyenne played a good game, as the locals defeated North Star by a final score of 64-51 in non-district girls basketball action, played here on Tuesday Dec. 11. It was the home opener for the Rockets.
North Star could be one of the top teams in District 8. The locals led virtually all the way and at all quarter stops: 19-11, 41-28, 50-35. Again the Rockets came thru with a convincing 64-51 win. Nine Rockets got in to the game and eight scored. It was a total team effort by NR-S. Hannah Haley led the Rockets with a game high of 22 points, Chole Heinz had 10 and Cassie Longnecker added 9 points. Danielle Hagler led north star with 17 points. Lindsey Nyhagen added 10 points.
NR-S made 27 field goals, 7 of 10 free throws and committed 22 fouls. North Star made 16 field goals, only 17 of 31 free throws and committed only 9 fouls. New Rockford-Sheyenne is now 3-2, overall. Next action for the Rockets is Tuesday, Dec. 17, when Carrington comes to town.
