The entry of NR-S Public School just got a facelift- and not for purely cosmetic reasons. The doors are the first step in implementing secure access to the school.
A Department of Homeland Security grant provided funds toward this renovation, which will monitor and control access throughout the day.
The next step is to secure the interior doors with a card reader. The doors will continue to be open for events in the evening, however, during the school day the public will be asked to buzz into the main office for school access.
Superintendent Jill Louters said, "We will conduct trainings for our staff and those community individuals needing access."
