New Rockford-Sheyenne was in control of the game from the outset as the Rockets defeated Drake-Anamoose, by a final score of 58-15, in non-district girls basketball action, played at Drake on Thursday, Jan. 2. The Raiders are a fairly young team. They compete in District 11 and Region 6. All of the Rockets saw playing time and seven scored. Drake-Anamoose had quite a time handling the locals’ defensive pressure. NR-S led all the way and at all quarter stops; 21-6, 30-6, 52-13 and again came away with a convincing 58-15 win.
The Rockets had good scoring balance. Hannah Haley led the way with 15 points. Dani Bjerke had 14 and Chloe Heinz added 12.
Jamie Lemer paced Drake -Anamoose with 7 points. NR-S made 26 field goals, 1 of 1 free throws, and committed 10 fouls.
The Raiders made 6 field goals, 2 of 4 free throws, and committed 7 fouls. At times, it was quite a physical game. New Rockford-Sheyenne is now 4-3, overall.
