Hunger Free Food Pantry winter update

Thanks to generous donors and volunteers, the Hunger Free Food Pantry at First Lutheran Church continues to do good work.

First, they distributed 33 Christmas baskets through the Share the Joy of Christmas project. They received many generous donations in 2019.

Second, as a result of sponsorships, the Food 4 Kids Backpack program is currently supplying six kids with a backpack of food each weekend.

The second helpings program ensures that students who receive free and reduced price lunches are able to have seconds at breakfast and lunch if they are hungry. The program covers the cost of around 250 second helpings each month.

The Senior Commodity program currently serves 12 senior families, who receive food delivered to their homes every other month by one of our volunteers.

Because of the generosity from this community, all the wonderful volunteers at the food pantry can continue the fight to end food insecurity in Eddy County!
