Eddy County Sheriff arrests one murder suspect, another remains at large

On Sunday, January 26, 2020, the Eddy County Sheriff's Office was conducting an investigation on an individual who was staying at the Bison Lodge in New Rockford who was believed to be wanted out of California. During the investigation, a male and a female fled on foot from deputies. The male was identified as Demetrius Coleman, who was wanted for Murder out of Humboldt County, Calif. Deputies were able to surround a small building behind the lodge where they believed the individual was hiding. The subject continually ignored

commands to surrender and exit the building. The North Dakota Highway Patrol and Foster County Sheriff's Office assisted in a perimeter while Eddy County Sheriff's Office deputies made entry into the building. Deputies were able to apprehend Coleman without force. He was transported to the Stutsman County Correctional Center in Jamestown, N.D. for extradition back to California.

The female is still at large, and believed to be in the community or surrounding areas, but officials do not believe the public is in danger. The female goes by Miriam or Alma Ahumada. She is Hispanic, around 5-foot-2-inches tall, and also has an extraditable warrant out of Humboldt County, Calif. in connection with the murder.

Anyone with more information on the female still at large is asked to contact the Eddy County

Sheriff's Office at 701-947-5515.

The Eddy County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Foster
