Obituary: Glenn Bjornson

Glenn Duane Bjornson, 85, of rural Tolna (formerly of Grace City), passed away peacefully on Jan. 14, 2020, at Good Samaritan Society in Lakota, N.D. A memorial service was held Jan. 19 at New Life Fellowship, rural Hamar, N.D.

Glenn was born and raised in the McHenry, N.D. area, the son of Sophus and Irene (Melland) Bjornson. He was a sharpshooter and marksman for the U.S. Army stationed in Korea from 1959-1961.

Glenn married Carolyn (Manz) on Aug. 19, 1961, in Warren, Minn., and they began their lives together in New Rockford, N.D. He transported mail to and from Bottineau, N.D.

Glenn trained as a diesel mechanic and worked for John Deere and International. He managed the Goulet Farms in Grafton, N.D. doing mechanic work for Arctic Cat in the winter months. Glenn worked for the Grace City Public School system for many years.

Glenn is survived by his wife; children Robby of Manvel, N.D.; Randy of Bemidji, Minn.; Karol (Jeff) Kapelle of Tolna and Kelly (Brad) Barker of New Prague, Minn.; six grandchildren; brothers Kenneth (LaVonne), Dennis, Ronald and Gerald Bjornson; and sister LuAnn (Dale) Viken.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Janice Mastre.
