Rockets defeat Lady Warriors

New Rockford-Sheyenne played well overall on both ends of the court as they defeated Warwick by a final score of 54-21 in District 7 Girls Basketball action played here on Thursday, Jan. 30. Warwick is a very young team that could have a good future. Warwick did have trouble handling defensive pressure. All of the Rockets saw playing time and seven scored. The Rockets led all the way, and at all quarter stops, 17-5 37-7, 49-12 and again came away with a convincing win. Warwick made 6 field goals, 6 of 7 free throws, and committed 10 fouls.

New Rockford-Sheyenne made 21 field goals, 6 of 13 free throws, and committed 8 fouls. The Rockets had a very good balance. Dani Bjerke led all scorers with 19 points. Hannah Haley had 12 and Cassie Longnecker added 11. Jayla Alberts led the visitors with 6 points.

New Rockford-Sheyenne finished at 4-2 in District 7 play and are now 9-5 overall.

Next action for the Rockets is the regular-season finale on Monday, Feb. 10 at Pingree against Medina-Pingree-Buchanan. Two games will be played starting at 6 p.m.
