Rockets top BCN Bison

New Rockford-Sheyenne played a pretty good overall game as the locals defeated Barnes County North by a final score of 54-35 in non-district girls basketball action played at Leal on Thursday, Feb. 6. A basket by Chloe Heinz tied the game at 2-2 with 6:42 to go in the first.  

The Rockets went on a 9-0 run capped off by a bucket by Hannah Haley making it 9-2 with 2:33 to go. New Rockford-Sheyenne led 12-4 after one. It was 24-12 in favor of the locals at halftime. Barnes County North cut the lead to 36-26 after three. The Rockets had a big fourth quarter, outscoring the Lady Bison 18-9 and the locals came away with a 54-35 win. Barnes County North is a very young team and have struggled this season.

BCN made 14 field goals, 1-3 free throws, and committed 18 fouls. New Rockford-Sheyenne made 21 field goals, 9-17 free throws, and committed 13 fouls. At times, BCN was bothered by the Rockets defensive pressure. Ashley McFadgen paced BCN with 12 points. Kendra Coreshik added 11.

Hannah Haley paced the Rockets with 17 points. Dani Bjerke had 13 and Kayahna Hopfauf added 11 points. New Rockford-Sheyenne is now 10-6 overall.
