Skyhawks defeat Rocket girls

The Rockets played a pretty good first quarter but after that Shiloh Christian gradually pulled away and took control as they defeated the locals by a final score of 65-35 in non-district girls basketball action, played here on Friday, Feb. 7. The Skyhawks are a very good overall team. The visitors led all the way and at all quarter stops, 16-11, 53-22, 49-32 and again came away with a 65-35 win. Overall, it was a pretty physical game.

Eric Guler and his brother Brian Guler, two former New Rockford residents officiated not only this game but the varsity boys game as well, along with a friend from the Pelican Rapids, Minnesota area.

Hannah Haley led the locals with a game-high 23 points. Shiloh Christian had good balanced scoring. Grace Kelly led the way with 15 points. Hannah Westin had 13. Jacie Hall had 12, and Kelsey Mischel added 10. The Rockets made 16 field goals, 2-8 free throws and committed 13 fouls. The visitors made 24 field goals, 9-13 free throws, and committed 8 fouls. The Rockets are now 10-7 overall.
