The first half was close but the locals gradually pulled away and New Rockford-Sheyenne defeated Midkota by a final score of 63-39 in the boys basketball regular-season finale played here on Thursday, Feb. 20. It was also “Senior Night.” The game was quite physical and hard fought. It was tied at 13-13 after one stanza. The Rockets led 28-17 at the intermission. It was 48-31 after three and again won going away by a final of 63-39. Midkota made 14 field goals, 6-8 free throws and committed 10 fouls.
New Rockford-Sheyenne made 23 field goals, 8-10 free throws and committed 9 fouls. Jory Boote paced the visitors with 16 points. Logan Topp added 11 points. Evan Ulrich led the Rockets with a game-high 21 points.
Hunter Thompson added 13 points and Bo Belquist added 10 points.

The Rocket Junior Varsity finished at 9-6 overall the Rocket C Squad finished at 4-4 overall. Elliott Belquist coached the Junior Varsity and C Squad teams.
Junior High

The Rocket Junior High teams combined for 15-13 overall record. Chance LaBrie and Brett Allmaras coached the Junior High teams.
The District 7 Boys Basketball Tournament was set for Feb. 28-29 and March 2 at Devils Lake. The Rockets entered the tournament this past Friday as the #3 seed. They were set to take on Harvey-Wells County in the nightcap with the winner to play the victor of Friday’s Benson County vs. Lakota contest in Saturday’s semifinals.
