The North Dakota State University Concert Choir and Madrigal Singers, under the direction of Michael Weber, will be presenting a concert at the New Rockford- Sheyenne High School on Saturday, March 14 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature the New Rockford- Sheyenne High School Concert Choir under the direction of Annette Hovey. In addition, NR-S alums Micah Nicolai and Nick Hovey (who are also members of the NDSU Concert Choir) will also be singing in this concert. The event is free and open to the public.
Other stops on the choir tour will include Grand Forks, Jamestown, Richardton, Bismarck and Valley City. The final performance will culminate on March 22 at 4 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Fargo.
The choirs at NDSU have a long tradition of excellence in choral music. Selections will include music by Pachelbel, Brahms, Copland and Fissinger.
The Concert Choir rehearses daily and performs several concerts each year on campus and during annual spring tours. Most recently, the choir toured Croatia and Italy in 2012, Iceland and Scotland in 2015, and Germany and Denmark in May of 2018. The choir plans to tour Norway in 2021.
The NDSU Madrigal Singers is a highly selective ensemble that performs vocal chamber music from the Renaissance through the 21st century. They present the annual Madrigal Dinner in full costume every December. The Madrigal Singers were selected to sing at the 2020 North Dakota American Choral Directors Association. They tour each spring with the NDSU Concert Choir.

March Music Calendar
This March, students in both choir and band are putting on their best and performing concerts throughout the state. Some of the highlights will include:
MARCH 11
Raging Red Festival will be held on Wednesday, March 11. High school and eighth grade band students will travel to North Dakota State University Fargo and spend the day gaining experiences that will help them become stronger performers. They will also have the chance to see the NDSU Wind Symphony perform.
MARCH 14
NDSU Concert Choir and NR-S Madrigal Singers will perform in New Rockford on Saturday, March 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the New Rockford- Sheyenne School Gym. All are welcome. NR-S alumi Micah Nicolai and Nick Hovey will be part of this special performance.
MARCH 17
Large group choir and band contest for high school will be held on Tuesday, March 17 at Griggs County Central School in Cooperstown. The eighth grade band students will perform with the high school. The performance is open to the public.
MARCH 22-24
North Dakota All-State Mixed Choir Festival will be held at the Bismarck Civic Center. NR-S vocalists Jaden Gray-Greiner and Kayden Wiedrich were selected to participate in this mixed choir. The concert will begin at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
