On Feb. 28-29, Rocket archers played host to the second ever National Archery in the Schools Program Tournament at NR-S. Archers represented NR-S well, and demonstrated the skills they have gained.
NR-S archers secured the top prize in both high school divisions. Koven Walford took first place in the boys division, and Macey Wobbema topped all high school girls. Koven also won the Top Overall Male Archer award and set a new personal record and NR-S school record with a score of 298.
In the middle school division, Hunter Genre placed first, Alex Weisenburger third and Keaton Cudworth fifth.
Layton Jacobson took third place in the elementary boys division.
Several others finished in the top ten of their divisions:
• Kyria Dockter, eighth, high school girls
• Kaiya O'Connor, ninth, middle school girls
• Lora Wobbema, 10th, middle school girls
• Chaztin Wobbema, eighth, elementary boys
• Aaden Benson, ninth, elementary boys
There were also 28 archers who achieved their personal best scores: Eli Alfstad (237), Beau Baumbach (204), Aaden Benson (244), Megan Bjerke (69), Jackson Brazil (267), Kaylynn Chamberlain (219), Jax Demester (220), Emma Duda (259), Jaydee Duda (193), Shaylynn Duda (174), Kayne Gascogne-Mackner (197), Rikka Gudmunson (236), Angelina Hall (83), Joie Helseth (181), Tatyn Heskin (212), Madison Hultgren (122), Sawyer Huso (230), Kailar Jacobson (266), Paige Knatterud (227), Jocee Lawrence (203), Ava Peterson 242), Vinnie Ruppell (228), Jaida Schumacher (97), Sophie Skogen (116), Kinley Thomas (59), Hannah Wobbema (162) and Noah Wobbema (171).
On Saturday March 7, the archers traveled to Medina. They finish the regular season at Rolla on March 14. The state tournament is scheduled for March 20-21 in Minot.
