Public library now delivers books to patrons in New Rockford

Eddy-New Rockford Librarian Susie Sharp has figured out a way to get books from the library shelves and right to local patrons’ front porch.

In a post on the Eddy-New Rockford Library Facebook page, Susie says, “I will be making doorstep deliveries (in town only sorry!)” In order to abide by social distancing recommendations, Susie reminds patrons, “We can’t talk to each other, we can wave to each other through the window, but don’t come out of your house if I deliver to you! I know some of us could use some human contact but right now I just want to get books to people who need them.”

Patrons can leave a message on the library’s voicemail at (701) 947-5540, message the Eddy-New Rockford Facebook Page or email [email protected]. If you leave a message or email please make sure you leave your full name, address and phone number. For those who don’t mind a surprise, you can leave a message that states simply the number of books you want, and Susie will make a selection for you.

Patrons who prefer to reserve selections may want to consider logging into the library’s book system at https://newrockford.booksys.net/opac/enrpl/index.html#menu. The login is an individual’s library card number and the pin is the account holder’s last name, all lowercase. A tutorial on how to reserve books through the website is available https://youtu.be/xIhT-GQS8wo

In one last plea to the public, Susie says, “Also please, please, please do not return any books that you already have out. We don’t want any books back until we are open again! No fines will be charged during the time that we are closed!”

Right now the emphasis of this service is focused on folks who have limited access to digital reading options.

If you have an e-reading device, you can access the library’s Overdrive digital download service available at https://ndlibrary2go.overdrive.com/.
