Obituary: Julia Gross

Julia Gross, 91, of Fargo died on Friday, March 27, 2020, at Essentia Health in Fargo. A private funeral service was held April 3, at Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford. Rev. Doug Nemitz officiated. Burial was at the Prairie Home Cemetery, New Rockford. Casket bearers were William Collier, Robert Collier, Jerald Rimmereid, Larry Danduran Jr., Cindy Collier and Glenda Collier. Julia was born on July 8, 1928, in rural Cathay, N.D., the daughter of John and Thekla (Bryne) Gedrose. She was baptized and confirmed in Stavanger Lutheran Church, rural Cathay. She attended school at Fairville Township, rural Cathay, then attended Columbia Consolidated School. She attended Dakota Business College in Fargo, N.D. She returned to work as a bookkeeper at McDowell Feed in New Rockford.

Julia was united in marriage to Leroy Gross on April 3, 1959 in New Rockford. They had three children, David, Curtis and Debra.

She is survived by sons, David Gross and Curtis Gross; sisters Gerda Backman and Vivian Rimmeried; sister-in-law, Barbara Gedrose and many nieces and nephews.

Julia was preceded in death by her husband; daughter Debra; her parents; three sisters, Olga Sielig, Erna Gedrose and Tillie Collier; two brothers, Emil Gedrose and John Gedrose; brothers-in-law, Clarence Sielig, Glenn Collier, Donald Backman, Daniel Rimmeried and sisters-in-law Bernadine Gedrose and Gladys Walstad.
